about
When I was 21, I wrote this song after a night swimming in a polluted river with someone I loved dearly. We were joking about a green light like the one in The Great Gatsby and how the bridge above us was like the ones in Paris.
In reality, that green light was from a Papa John's Pizzeria and we were in a little place called Peterborough, Ontario.
lyrics
Stars in your eyes
Space in your smile
I've been wondering about you for a long while
and don't you know, I'll hold you dear
You smoke cigarettes
Of chamomile and rose
And you plant flowers each time you write prose
and don't you know, I'll hold you dear
Reflections in the water
Under Inverlea bridge
We may never make it to Paris
But the streetlights make a good kitsch
And we don't need to hurry
Cause we know not to follow green lights
Despite our wearing eyes
We know what we have in sight
Oo-oo-oo-oo
Oo-oo-oo-oo
Reflections in the water
Under Inverlea bridge
We may never make it to Paris
But the streetlights make a good kitsch
And we don't need to hurry
Cause we know not to follow green lights
Despite our wearing eyes
We know what we have in sight
